It was available as a roadster and as a fastback coupé – introduced in March 1965. The S600 was the first Honda available in two trim levels. The S600 got 57hp out of a 606cc 4-cylinder DOHC engine that could hold its own compared with racing engines, and it featured a motorcycle style chain-driven rear wheel drive. Exports to Europe followed as the S600 quickly gained respect, gaining popularity as a highly lightweight and speedy sports car. It was also to prove a success in races both inside and outside of Japan. Now, Tamiya presents the rally version of the Alpine A110, representing the car that won the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally.The Alpine was developed by Jean Redele, who initially raced with the Renault 4CV. He soon noticed the limitations of its heavy body, and decided to replace it with his own design made of FRP. Redele drove a modified 4CV, dubbed the Alpine, to victory in the Mille Miglia road race in 1955, and continued to develop new versions based on Renault cars. The Alpine A110 was released in 1963, and was based on the Renault 8. It had a 956cc 4-cylinder engine at the rear and lightweight body shell made of FRP. Front suspension featured the independent double wishbone type, while the rear used swing arms. The A110 proved its ability by dominating road races held throughout the late 60's and early 70's, with its win at the 1971 Monte Carlo Rally undoubtedly crowning the pinnacle of its career. Subaru was the first team to take advantage of the leeway, bringing out the Impreza WRC. That machine featured all aluminum horizontal four cylinder turbo engine paired with a vertically mounted gearbox. The layout placed the gearbox in a balanced position behind the front axle, heightening manerverability and ultimately contributing to a Mnufactures Championship for that year.The bulk of the improvements to the 1999 model centered around the engine and gearbox. Foremost was the adoption of an electronically controlled throttle system. This system converts the position of the throttle in to electronic signals, heightening throttle response. The Impreza WRC was also equipped with a 6-speed, semi-automatic gearbox. This system enables sudden shifting, such as from 6th to 1st gear. Work is also continuing on the development of an electronically controlled damper system. The Impreza WRC is driven by J. Kankkunen, R. Burns and B. Thiry. Kankkunen and Burns finished in 1st and 2nd place respectively at both the 7th Argentina Rally and the 10th Finland Rally. The 8th Acropolis Rally was also taken by Burns, setting the scene for an intense contest in the latter half of the season.

Modellbau von Tamiya: So gelingt die Montage

Der Plastik-Modellbau von Tamiya gibt Bastelfreunden Anlass dazu, ihr Hobby noch mehr zu genießen. Die Bauteile bestehen aus dem Kunststoff Polystyrol. Sie müssen sie zunächst aus den Kunststoffgittern herausschneiden, in denen sie bei Ihnen ankommen. Das geht am besten mit einem Cutter-Messer. Mit speziellem Modellbaukleber leimen Sie die Teile nun zusammen. Überschüssigen Leim und abstehende Kanten entfernen Sie mit Schleifpapier. Sie können die Unebenheiten auch verspachteln. Im nächsten Schritt tragen Sie eine Grundierung auf - meist ist diese weiß, aber auch andere Farben sind möglich.

Mit den originalgetreuen Farben oder auch einem eigenen Design bemalen Sie Ihr Fahr- oder Flugzeug aus dem Tamiya-Modellbau-Sortiment. Das können Sie sowohl mit Pinseln als auch mit Airbrush tun - je nachdem, was Ihnen am besten liegt. Außerdem besteht die Möglichkeit, das Modell mit speziellen Abziehbildern, sogenannten Decals, zu dekorieren. Nach Bedarf können Sie nun noch Spezialeffekte hinzufügen - beispielsweise Abnutzungserscheinungen, die Ihrem Modell ein noch authentischeres Äußeres verleihen.
